Birthdays
We love to celebrate birthdays! Children are welcome to bring special treats to share with their friends. Treats could include cupcakes, donuts, cookies, ice cream cups, etc. Please be sure to send enough treats for all 20 students and we will enjoy the treats during our regular daily snack time.
Homework
Each Wednesday students will bring home a leveled reader to practice reading and then bring it back to school on Thursday. Your child can read the book to themselves, or to a parent, grandparent, sibling, pet, stuffed animal, etc. Occasionally your child will bring home a page of math homework. It will be something we practiced that day in class together. Your child will need to complete the page (they are very short) and bring it back to school the next day.
Scholastic Book Orders
I will send home scholastic book orders once a month. You can order books one of two ways. You can send the slip and payment (cash or check) to school with your child in his/her STAR Folder or you can order online. Every order helps our classroom earn free books.
Snack Time
Each day at 10:30 will be our designated snack time. Students are welcome to bring a snack (fruit, chips, crackers, etc) to eat during this time. Students may also bring a water bottle/juice box or purchase a snack milk to have as well.
Special Class Schedule
Monday - Technology
Tuesday - Art
Wednesday - Music
Thursday - Library
Friday - PE (wear tennis shoes)
S.T.A.R. Folders
Students will bring home their STAR (Students Taking Active Responsibility) Folder each day. Inside will be a monthly calendar with birthdays, important dates, and special events as well as a pocket for Notes/Lunch Money/Snack Milk Money. The front pocket of the folder is the Return to School pocket. Papers in this pocket will need to be signed/completed and returned to school. The back pocket of the folder is the Keep at Home pocket. Papers in this pocket can stay at home and don't need to be returned.
Transportation
Please be sure to send a note or call the office if your child will be going home from school a different way than he/she normally does.
